Super Quick Guide to Clearing

The Students’ Guide to University has been produced by UniTasterDays.com in collaboration with HELOA, to support students to make brilliant future university decisions. Editorial has been provided by over 35 university experts.

The guide has been split into sections which are designed to support students with various parts of their higher education decision-making journey. Including: why they may wish to consider university, advice when they’re making university choices, fees and finance support, application help, what to expect during their application and when they start their course.

It doesn’t have to be doom and gloom, financing university studies is more straight forward than you might think.

Remote learning resources

Support with devices and internet connections

Students without access to a laptop or tablet for their remote learning, or who do not have consistent access to the internet may be eligible for government support. Please visit get-help-with-tech.education.gov.uk/ to find out about the devices, internet access and support available to provide remote education and access to children’s social care during Covid-19.

We have also created a guide to show how teachers can request additional data for mobile devices for their students. Customers using BT Mobile, EE, and Plusnet Mobile can access online BBC Bitesize content without using their data allowance.

Internet Service Provider (ISP) Hyperoptic are working with 37 local authorities to offer free broadband to families who do not have a reliable broadband connection.

Device donations

Business to Schools Initiative - supplies tech and other resources to schools

BBC Give a laptop - lists various initiatives and how to donate and access devices

Accessing learning on consoles

Both Xbox and PlayStation consoles can access Office 365, including Microsoft Teams. Students can use these devices to learn remotely if they don't have access to laptops or tablets or need to share devices between family members.

Resources for home learning

Online

BBC Teach provides a wide range of educational resources aimed at primary and secondary age students. 

Oak National Academy are offering an online library of free e-books and audiobooks, and online lessons.

On television

Programming for primary school pupils will be on CBBC between 09:00 and 12.00 every weekday. Programmes for secondary school pupils will be on BBC Two, between 13:00 and 15:00. Bitesize Daily lessons will also be shown on the Red Button service on TV. The full broadcast schedule can be found on the BBC website.
